Mentor Police Department K-9 suddenly passes away [Video]

MENTOR, Ohio (WJW) – The Mentor Police Department has announced the passing of a K-9 officer after a sudden medical emergency.

According to a news release from the Mentor Police Department, K-9 Officer Achilles died on Aug. 18.

Achilles had served with the Mentor Police Department since April of 2019 alongside his partner, Patrolman Terry Wurgler.

“Achilles’ impact on the department and community will not be forgotten,” the release said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Wurgler and his family during this difficult time.”

The release said Achilles served with courage and dedication.
