Up Close With the 2025 GMC Yukon

This is our first chance to see the updated 2025 GMC Yukon in person – including the new AT4 Ultimate trim. Detroit Bureau Chief Aaron Bragman walks you through the major updates to GMC’s full-size SUV, just a few months after the mechanically similar Chevrolet Tahoe got its glow up.

At the bottom of the Yukon’s trim ladder, the SLE and SLT trims are consolidated into a new Elevation trim, while at the other end of the spectrum GMC adds the all-new AT4 Ultimate, which combines the AT4’s off-road bits with nearly all the Denali’s luxury goodies.

Powertrains mostly carryover, but GMC is expanding the availability of the 3.0-liter Duramax engine, allowing shoppers to opt for diesel power in all trims.

Inside the Yukon, a new dashboard should help improve visibility while new tech combines with tried-and-true physical controls for an advanced but still user-friendly experience.
