DMPD is investigating fatality following Fridays motorcycle crash [Video]

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department announced the death of the motorcyclist involved in Friday crash.

On August 16 around 11:38 p.m., DMPD and DMFD responded to a crash with injury at Wright Street and Euclid Avenue. A 911 caller reported a collision between a motorcycle and vehicle within the intersection.

First responders arrived on scene to the motorcyclist in critical condition and began lifesaving efforts immediately. The patient was transported to a local hospital.

Despite critical care, 23-year-old Trever Ray Vinzant died on August 17 the following day.

According to the DMPD press release an SUV, driven by a 44-year-old man, began to turn onto Wright Street and entered the path of the motorcyclist. The two vehicles then collided in the intersection.

This is the 12th crash fatality of 2024; the sixth involving a motorcycle.

The DMPD is continuing to investigate this crash and will release information as it becomes available.
