HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The Marshall Thundering Herd will kickoff the 2024 season in less than two weeks. On Sunday, Head Coach Charles Huff assembled the team at Spring Hill Cemetery.
The team, along with coaches and support staff, gathered in front of the memorial monument that pays tribute to the 75 lives lost on November 14, 1970 when Southern Airways Flight 932 crashed into a hillside. The plane was carrying members of the 1970 Marshall football team, coaches, boosters, and community members.
Coach Charles Huff says that the team’s annual visit to the cemetery helps them better understand the legacy of Marshall football and why they must honor the 75 lives lost and the community with how they play each and every fall Saturday.
