North Charleston law firm gives away 300 backpacks to the community [Video]

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Joye Law Firm in North Charleston gives away free school supplies and backpacks, gearing towards grades K-5 on Saturday afternoon.

This is their third year participating in this giveaway, partnering up with Motivate to Educate.

Volunteers gave away school supplies to families and community members from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Each vehicle was able to get two backpacks.

Managing partner Kenny Harrell said they love to participate in this because it is so much more than free pencils or notebooks.

“It’s a tough path, and so what the kids need, of course is an equal opportunity and a chance to succeed. So, this is a very small thing to do, but I think anything that collectively we can do kind of puts kids in equal footing. Give them a chance to do well, it’s good for the community,” Harrell said.
