The Nebraska Barons kick off the 2024 International Wheelchair Softball World Series with a dominating 15-0 win over the STRAPS (of San Antonio, Texas).
Having won a record-setting 13 championships, Nebraska Barons’ catcher Bruce Froendt hopes to make this year number 14.
“We have a strong team,” Froendt said. “You never know what can happen in tournaments… we continue to strive to get better and better each year.”
Wheelchair softball, a sport brimming with dynamism and excitement, serves as a stage for individuals with varying abilities to showcase their exceptional athletic skills, according to a press release for the event. Wheelchair softball embodies inclusivity and inspiration.
“It’s an opportunity to keep playing a sport we love and benefit from team sports,” Froendt said. “Friends, teamwork, fun, disappointments. It’s just a wonderful opportunity to get people together.
