Officer-involved shooting in Bastrop leaves person in serious condition [Video]

BASTROP, La. (KNOE) – An officer-involved shooting that happened in Morehouse Parish is under investigation.

According to the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (NLSIU), on Aug. 15 Morehouse Parish Sheriff deputies were executing an Order for Protective Custody on the 8700 block of Grabault Road when they encountered an armed person on the front lawn of the residence.

In a press release, NLSIU said that deputies ordered the person to drop their weapon, however, the “situation escalated” when the person “failed to comply.”

Authorities said the person was shot and then immediately provided medical aid. The person was later airlifted to a regional hospital.

KNOE was told that the person is “in serious condition.”

A team of investigators from surrounding agencies have taken over the investigation.
