Google executives have denied relying on artificial intelligence to answer questions at a Senate hearing on Friday after an AI chatbot suddenly interjected during their testimony.

Google’s Australian director of government affairs and public policy, Lucinda Longcroft, was facing questions over teleconference about her company’s AI policies when an AI chatbot with a male, American voice interrupted while she was speaking.
