Olympic swimmer Paige Madden speaks to UMS-Wright students following Paris summer games [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – Olympic champion and UMS-Wright grad Paige Madden is back in Mobile. Today, she spoke with students about her experience in the Paris olympic games, sharing her story with the community that built her.

“I wouldn’t be who I am without UMS. For them to instill those values in me, and then to be able to give back and see all the little kids, see how excited they were, that was really special. Just to come full circle.”

Former UMS-Wright standout Paige Madden swam a personal-best time to earn a bronze medal in the women’s 800-meter freestyle at the Paris olympics. Madden also won a silver medal as part of the United states’ 4-by-200-meter freestyle relay team.

That wasn’t her first time standing on the podium. She also won a silver medal in that same event at the Tokyo games. The decorated olympic swimmer is back in her hometown …
