A&M and Texas to make announcement on Lone Star Showdown [Video]

The Lone Star Showdown returns this year with Texas joining the Southeastern Conference. A&M and Texas officials will make an announcement at a press conference next Thursday in Houston concerning the return of the rivalry, which will pit the schools in all sports after a 12-year-hiatus.

When the schools stopped playing each other regularly in all sports they had been competing in the State Farm Lone Star Showdown, which started in 2004 and awarded a trophy to the winning school annually based on head-to-head results in 19-team competitions. One point was available in all competitions. Texas won the last trophy in 2011-12.
