Expert weighs in on the link between mental health and violence [Video]

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala. (WBRC) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that mental health issues were a factor in the double homicide that happened Saturday in Ohatchee.

Deputies say 35-year-old Tyler Ferguson is accused of killing his mother and father.

In Birmingham, officers say 31-year-old Kerry Jackson Jr. “snapped” last Thursday and shot four people, killing two of them. Two of the victims included Jackson’s dad and grandfather.

Law enforcement says that mental health can play a part in crimes and tragedies.
