Water pressure back to normal in Cumberland County but boil water advisory remains: update [Video]

Pennsylvania American Water issued a second update Sunday following the main break that prompted a boil water advisory and caused a drop in pressure for tens of thousands of Cumberland County customers on Friday.

Sent out just after 5 p.m., it read as follows:

• Water pressure has been restored for customers throughout our Mechanicsburg system.
• We are now performing flushing in the system in preparation for required water quality testing prior to lifting the boil water advisory. While we flush the system, you may experience discolored water.
• After flushing is completed, water quality testing will begin. Results must be obtained for the boil water advisory to be lifted. We anticipate the first round of testing will be completed by tomorrow morning, August 12. The second round is expected to be completed by early Tuesday.
