Canton man shot and killed while fighting with neighbor [Video]

CANTON (WWJ) A Canton man died in a shooting during an argument with his neighbor, police said.

In a press release; Canton Police said their officers were called to a home on Cornell, in the area of Cherry Hill and Sheldon, on Saturday (8/10) around 11:48 a.m. The caller reported shots fired after a “brief confrontation” between the suspect and the victim, both of whom lived in the neighborhood.

After arriving; officers found the victim, 35, in the street with a gunshot wound.

Officers moved the victim to a safe place where Canton Firefighters and Paramedics gave him medical treatment.

The victim died from his injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect barricaded himself in his home “immediately after the shooting.” Officers “issued multiple commands” and eventually made contact with the suspect, who gave himself over to police, they said.

The suspect remains in custody pending the investigation.
