Closure on westbound Route 283 in Lancaster County pushed back a week: PennDOT [Video]

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that the closure planned for this weekend on westbound Route 283 in Rapho Township, Lancaster County, has been rescheduled for the following weekend due to the forecast for rain.

Weather permitting, westbound Route 283 will be closed at the Mount Joy/Route 230 Exit from 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, until 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, a press release said.

The closure will allow beams to be set on the Strickler Road (Route 4045) bridge spanning the westbound lanes of Route 283. The bridge was closed to traffic last October due to a vehicle strike.

Motorists traveling westbound in Route 283 should exit at the Mount Joy/Route 230 exit, then take Route 230 west through Mount Joy Borough to Cloverleaf Road, then turn right and proceed to the Cloverleaf Road Interchange and westbound Route 283.
