OTTAWA COUNTY, MI — John Teeples has won the Republican primary for the Ottawa County District 7 seat to the Ottawa County Board.
Rachel Atwood and John Teeples, both newcomers, sought the board seat currently held by Rebekah Curran.
Curran decided not to run again. She announced her candidacy for Michigan’s open U.S Senate seat earlier this year.
Teeples received 4,044 votes (56.6%) while Atwood received 3,104 votes (43.4%), according to unofficial Ottawa County election results showing 10 of 10 precincts fully reporting at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6. Election results are unofficial until certified by the Board of Canvassers following the election.
Atwood is a legislative aide in the Michigan House of Representatives and Teeples is an attorney.
The Republican primary winner now goes on to face Democrat Heather Majestic in the November election.
