Scotts Law violation follows deadly crash on I-55 in southwest Bloomington [Video]

BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – A driver was killed, and another driver was injured after their vehicles crashed and caught fire Tuesday afternoon on southbound Interstate-55 in southwest Bloomington.

About three hours later, Illinois State Police say a third vehicle drove through the crash scene, nearly hitting troopers and Illinois Department of Transportation crews in what authorities say was a Scott’s Law violation.

The initial crash happened just before 2 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates a vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons and hit the back of a service vehicle parked on the right shoulder. Both vehicles caught fire, according to State Police.

The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the second vehicle was injured and taken to an area hospital.

The identity of the driver who died is being withheld until family members are notified. …
