BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Kern County Supervisor Zack Scrivner has resigned his seat on the Kern County Board of Supervisors due to “significant health and medical reasons.”

Scrivner’s resignation comes after nearly four months following an incident at his Tehachapi home on April 23 when Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were called. Scrivner was reportedly undergoing a psychotic episode, and he was armed with a gun.

At an April 25 press conference, Sheriff Donny Youngblood said Scrivner was being investigated over allegations of child sexual abuse.

Scrivner has not been seen in public since the incident.

In a letter to Board of Supervisors Chairman David Couch, Scrivner said his resignation is effective Friday, Aug. 2.
