Parkersburg Paddlefest back on in September [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP)—After initially being canceled, the annual weekend of activities is now back on. The Parkersburg Paddlefest will now be hosted by the Wild River Kayak Company, and it has been rescheduled for September 13 and 14.

The current plan for Paddlefest is:

• Friday: Glo Paddle starting at 7 p.m.
• Saturday: Paddling to Blennerhassett Island for a list of activities on the island starting at 2 p.m.

Jennifer Bartlett, the owner of the Wild River Kayak Company, said she was able to take over the event after the initial cancelation.

“I was asked if I was willing to take it over,” Bartlett said. “I myself attended Paddlefest for several years, and my sister comes down from Northern Ohio to attend. It’s not very often you get the opportunity to have the Ohio River shut down and just enjoy being on the Ohio River.
