BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board plans to appoint a new superintendent Wednesday.
A special meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23 to talk about the superintendent search. According to a news release, a vote will be taken to extend the application window until noon Wednesday, July 24.
Interviews with new candidates would then be conducted by the school board at 4 p.m. on the same day.
EBR Schools said a special meeting would follow those interviews to appoint a new superintendent. The new superintendent would then be introduced to the public at a press conference.
Louisiana State Superintendent Cade Brumley sent a letter to school board leaders Friday requesting a meeting with them after no vote was taken on a new superintendent in a Thursday meeting. He reminded parish school leaders that they had until July 24 to appoint a new leader before they failed to comply with state law.
