Suspect arrested after Fall River man dies in Brockton stabbing, DA says [Video]

Authorities have arrested a suspect in a fatal stabbing that took place in Brockton Saturday evening, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.

Johnny Richmond, 36, is accused of stabbing 39-year-old Fall River resident Edmar Goncalves, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.

Officers responded to 911 calls about a stabbing in a park near Crescent and Montello Streets shortly before 6:15 p.m. on July 20, the district attorney’s office said. Goncalves was found at the scene and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he was declared dead.

Richmond was arrested at the scene, the district attorney’s office said. The stabbing is not believed to be random.

Authorities are still investigating the stabbing. No further information about the incident has been released.
