Information security expert speaks on global Crowdstrike outage [Video]

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – On Friday, a certain glitch wasn’t just an irritation. The defective update from cybersecurity company CrowdStrike crippled some hospitals, 911 call centers, businesses and other institutions using Microsoft Windows worldwide, even shutting down billboards in New York’s Times Square.

It wasn’t the first time an anti-virus manufacturer has released a bad update. But it is the first time the error has been seen on a massive scale — and it will happen again, according to Andy Green, assistant professor of information security and assurance at Kennesaw State University.
