KPD officers, 1 Lt. and 1 Sgt., to assist security at RNC [Video]

MILWAUKEE — Ten Knoxville Police Department officers, including one lieutenant and one sergeant, were deployed to Milwaukee to help secure the 2024 Republican National Convention. The officers arrived on Saturday.

KPD said the officers were sent in response to the Milwaukee Police Department’s nationwide request for mutual aid, sent during the event security planning phase several months ago.

The deployed officers serve in a range of assignments within the department, with personnel from three of the four bureaus represented, according to KPD. They will be there throughout the convention and have been assigned to bike patrols in a 3.5-mile area on the outside.

It’s unclear if KPD’s patrols have changed after the attempted assassination of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
