THE XL Bully ban poses a “real risk of dog abandonment”, an Irish charity has warned as they said similar move in the past “have not worked”.
Minister Heather Humphreys announced last Friday that a total ban on XL Bully dogs would take effect in two phases beginning on October 1.
The Department of Rural and Community Development said the ban is in the interest of public safety following a number of “horrific” attacks by XL Bullies.
But the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) has now shared “concerns” over the planned ban – revealing that over one in 10 dogs in their care could be considered part of the soon-to-be banned breed.
