FRANKLIN, Ky. (WBKO) – The City of Franklin has recently opened Hoy Park, which has a history dating back to the seventeenth century.

The land was initially granted to Thomas Hoy, who moved to Franklin with his wife Susan in the early 1800s.

β€œThe Hoy Family played a very important role in the development of our community,” said the Director of Human Resources and Community Relations for the City of Franklin, Tammie Carey. β€œ[He] received land through a land grant for a service in the Revolutionary War, and really the whole family just was prominent throughout the history of Simpson County.”

The property is home to a family cemetery and Hoy Cave where groups traveling in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries would stay.

Hoy family descendant, Patrick Meguiar, brought old photos and the Hoy Family Bible, for show, also letting everyone in on a family secret about a well-known outlaw.
