“I think everybody was just kind of blindsided by the whole experience,” said one regular customer who asked to not be identified.

He told us that business always appeared to be booming and that many local groups, including the Wauseon Chamber of Commerce, would regularly meet there.

“Always had a great crowd in the morning, a good lunch crowd,” the regular said. “In the evenings, they brought in some food trucks and so on. It was nice, but it was a shocker.”

Nearly 100 social media comments flooded the announcement post with many asking about the status of their gift cards, if the business was for sale and, simply, what had happened.
