DETROIT (WWJ) A shooting on Detroit’s east side left two dead and 19 injured.
It happened in the overnight hours on Sunday (7/7) in a neighborhood on Rossini (13000 block) at Reno, near Schoenerr between 7 and 8 Mile Road.
In a statement on X; Michigan State Police said they were called to assist with a shooting through a partnership with their Homicide Task Force where “preliminary investigations (shows) there are 19 victims with various injuries and two fatal victims.”
Detroit Police released a statement confirming the two deaths, adding investigators and forensics are working “through the weekend” to gather evidence. They said they will be “implementing a comprehensive new strategy regarding block parties,” and will brief the police chief and mayor on Monday.
City Council President Mary Sheffield described the victims as “21 young people, average age of 19.”
