Peru is one of the first Latin American countries to establish diplomatic ties and a comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and is the first Latin American country to sign a package of free trade agreements with China. The country is a major destination for Chinese investment under the Belt and Road Initiative, with the flagship Chancay port under construction near Lima to serve as a major trade hub connecting Latin America and Asia known as “Chancay to Shanghai.” In this edition of Leaders Talk, CMG’s Zou Yun sat down in Beijing with Peruvian President Dina Boluarte during her week-long state visit to China in late June.
