Zoofest kicks off for 4th of July, celebrating more than 50 years in Lincoln [Video]

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Zoo Bar is celebrating its 51st anniversary with the annual ZooFest over the holiday weekend.

The event takes over 14th Street downtown between P and O streets, and is collaboration between all the businesses there.

From now until Saturday night, the street will be throwing one big party with 13 live bands performing.

Pete Watters, owner of the Zoo Bar, said it’s a lot of work to pull off every year.

“It’s a team effort,” he said. “There’s a lot of people involved in it, turning a city block into a concert venue. It’s a little bit difficult but we’ve been doing it for awhile. The weather’s gonna be beautiful, I think tomorrow and Saturday will be real good crowds.”

The event usually only lasts two days, but began on Thursday to include the 4th of July.
