Encinitas City Council votes to create affordable housing task force [Video]

ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) – The City of Encinitas is continuing to take steps toward a 100% affordable housing development, but not without continued criticism from the community.

There were dozens of public comments Wednesday for the city council to consider at the proposed site of Quail Gardens Drive. Ultimately, council decided to explore the possibility of other locations for affordable housing by voting to create an affordable housing task force to include the mayor, vice mayor and residents from throughout the city.

The city also agreed to move forward with community engagement sessions this fall to gather input and educate about affordable housing.
