FEMA to work on Iowa flooding [Video]

The Federal Emergency Management Agency plans to work with flood victims on a case-by-case basis and talk to people about where funding and services are needed.

CLARKE COUNTY, Iowa — Homeowners, renters and businesses whose property is damaged in five Northwest Iowa counties can now apply for federal assistance provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

As communities begin to cope with the unimaginable happening, many are left wondering what comes next.

FEMA has boots on the ground in Northwest Iowa as it begins to survey the record breaking damage.

“We’ve seen damage firsthand in Rock Valley, we’ve seen damage firsthand in Spencer and in other communities, so many people have a very long recovery ahead,” said John Mills, FEMA Spokesperson.

Those who have seen flood damage in the counties of Clay, Emmet, Lyon, Plymouth and Sioux are now eligible for federal assistance.
