Philly officer shot in the neck in Kensington, police say NBC10 Philadelphia [Video]

A Philadelphia police officer is fighting for his life after he was shot in the city’s Kensington neighborhood on Saturday, according to police.

The officer and his partner were conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle shortly before 8 p.m. on the 3500 block of F Street when he was shot, officials said. Four people were inside the car.

While the officers were conducting inventory on the contents of the car, they saw a holster, Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel said during a press conference late Saturday night.

A man in the car fled the scene and fired his gun three times at the officers, striking one of them in the neck, Bethel said.

The officer’s partner returned fire at the suspects, according to Bethel.

The injured officer was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. He is currently in the surgical ICU and listed in critical condition.
