Missing Iowa trucker died of meth intoxication, hypothermia, according to Sac County officials [Video]

Sac County, Iowa, officials on Friday announced the results of an autopsy on the body of a 53-year-old truck driver who went missing in November and was found dead in April.

The officials also released the conclusion of their investigation into his death.

David Schultz was found dead in a cornfield April 24 approximately half a mile from where his semitrailer truck was found abandoned in northeast Sac County on Nov. 21, according to a press release from the Sac County Attorney’s Office.

Schultz’s body was found by a farmhand tilling the field who didn’t notice the body until he was approximately 13 meters from it, according to the release.

The investigation into Schultz’s death found no signs of foul play, the release said.

A medical examiner determined Schultz’s death was accidental and his cause of death was “hypothermia in the setting of acute drug (methamphetamine) intoxication,” according to the release. Evidence …
