Boys and Girls Club kicks off fundraiser in west Alabama [Video]

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WBRC) – The Boys and Girls Club of West Alabama is hoping to raise $5 million in a major fundraising initiative they’re calling “Legacy of Hope.”

The group is getting help from some familiar names as some money has already been pledged.

A donor promised money towards a new elementary learning center names for former club member Yolanda Stockdale at the Boys and Girls Club at Jaycee Park in Tuscaloosa’s Alberta Community.

Built back in 1972, administrators want to modernize the whole building instead of replacing it. They would buy new vans to transport kids and add a mobile unit like and RV to travel throughout west Alabama to interact with children who don’t have any place to have Boys and Girls activities. Donations would also pay for increased safety measures, new technology, and more enrichment opportunities for kids in the Club.
