SEBii is so terminally online it hurts. The New York-meets-Shanghai artist makes music that sounds like a videogame, with MIDI-centric sounds and sound effects that go spoing! “Without the internet SEBii wouldn’t exist,” he asserts. “Almost all of the influences I discovered are because of the internet.” With backing from industry names such as Anthony Fantano and Playboi Carti (the latter shared a photo of the rapper on his Insta stories back in December), SEBii’s debut album VVSS2 builds on the epicness of past releases – a succession of three EPs based on the primary colours (VVBLUE, VVRED and VVYELLOW), which each represent different facets of SEBii’s character – to form a bouncy pop universe inspired by Nintendo faves such as Donkey Kong…
