901 Now: Whitehaven residents prep for annual Christmas parade [Video]

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The 28th annual Memphis Christmas Parade in Whitehaven is Saturday.

Each year, the much-anticipated event kicks off the week before Thanksgiving, bringing out the entire 901 NOW.

However, preparations start days in advance.

“There’s a lot of planning,” Fred McWilliams said. “Preparations and getting ready.”

Decorating for the holidays isn’t always the easiest job, but for many, it’s a rewarding task filled with both excitement and anticipation.

“As you see, this is one of the floats that’s being prepared,” McWilliams said. “Just going through and making sure the maintenance is prepared on the float. And just trying to gauge the banners and Christmas decorations that go on it.”

McWilliams is one of several Whitehaven residents who eagerly awaits the annual parade.

“It’s the comradery, we get to work with each other,” McWilliams said. “It’s actually an opportunity for us to work together and share our ideas together. Like, I do it one …
