79th Oregon Youth Governor: Football, politics, firefighting [Video]

PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – This week‘s High School Spotlight highlights Oregon’s 79th Youth Governor Cash Yount, a football player who leads day and night.

Yount is a seventeen-year-old with a goal and drive to do good. He’s the 79th Oregon Youth Governor through the Oregon alliance of YMCA Youth and government.

“It‘s a necessity that our youth know the power of their words,” Yount said, “and the capabilities of their action and that’s what that program really gave me.”

Yount is also a member of the Dayton Fire Department.

“I love it,” Yount said. “It‘s my favorite thing in the world. Hopping on an engine to go and fight a fire. It‘s exhilarating. It’s super fun and super meaningful.”
