RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – A staple in the Sturgis community, the Sturgis Strikers Bowling Alley at 910 1st Street, has provided families and friends a good time since 1956.
However, the bowling alley was on the verge of being transformed to a different business back in 2021, before a local nonprofit stepped in.
“When we found out that information, we brought together some other organizations in the community to try and figure out how we could continue to maintain the bowling alley in downtown Sturgis,” Executive Director for the Sturgis Economic Development Corporation Amanda Anglin said.
The Sturgis Economic Development Corporation went on to purchase the business in a partnership with the City of Sturgis.
“Through that partnership, we were able to find a local family that wanted just as badly as we did to keep the establishment open,” Anglin added.
