6 vehicles taken from the Green River in ongoing removal project [Video]

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – Several vehicles were recently discovered at Lock and Dam No. 5 in the Green River, after a recent demolition project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers caused a decrease in the river’s water levels.

According to Warren County Emergency Management, six vehicles were pulled from the Warren County side of the Green River on Sept. 21.

WCEM, along with Richardsville Fire Department and Walker’s Wrecker, spent over six hours removing the vehicles after receiving approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

According to USACE, a Nationwide Permit verification letter was issued to WCEM for the removal of nine cars in total through winching or minor excavation of cars embedded into the river bottom.
