36 chihuahuas rescued from Franklin County [Video]

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. — The Humane Society of Missouri rescued 36 chihuahuas from a property in Franklin County Thursday and are heading to St. Louis for treatment.

In a press release, the Humane Society said their animal cruelty task force was called by a concerned citizen who reported that the dogs were living on a hoarder property in Franklin County. The task force worked with local law enforcement to get onto the property, where they found the 36 dogs suffering from various health conditions.

The press release said the rescue was challenging because the dogs were allowed to roam free on the property and were fearful of human interaction.
