3 killed, including young boy NBC Chicago [Video]

UPDATE:

One of the children injured in a mass shooting Thursday morning in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood has died, authorities said.

An 8-year-old boy, identified by family as Bryson Orr, passed away from his injuries following surgery, according to family. The two other children who were injured remained in critical condition late Thursday.

EARLIER:

Two adults were killed and three children were critically injured in a shooting in Chicago’s Grand Crossing neighborhood in the early morning hours on the Fourth of July, Chicago police said.

“So, unfortunately on this holiday morning, we find ourselves at the scene of another tragedy,” Don Jerome, Deputy Chief Area One said during a press conference Thursday morning.

Around 6:15 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the 7100 block of South Woodlawn on a ShotSpotter alert, police said. Upon arrival, officers discovered “multiple people” shot.
