WHEAT RIDGE, Colo. (KKTV) – Three people are dead and an investigation is underway after a semi-truck lost its load along I-70 in Wheat Ridge Thursday.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department is reporting the crash was reported at about 8:20 a.m. near Ward Woad.
“The order of what happened in this series of events is still undetermined,” police wrote on social media. “At some point during the traffic event, the truck lost its load, which spilled across the westbound lanes. A passenger car traveling westbound was involved in this incident after the debris spilled into oncoming traffic. The car was struck and crashed, resulting in three fatalities.”
Three others, including the semi-truck driver, were taken to the hospital. It isn’t clear how many vehicles were involved, but early into the investigation police believe three cars and the semi were involved.
