Celebrated every June, Pride Month is an opportunity to honor the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies and celebrate queer people for who they are. One day to do this is to recognize our historic and present-day contributions and accomplishments across various fields, including in the world of activism and political advocacy. This is especially true in the Latinx community because queer Latinxs face unique issues compared to other ethnic groups like cultural homophobia, gender-based violence, and machismo. That’s why it’s so important to celebrate queer Latinxs throughout Latin America, the U.S., and beyond who continue to play a big part in resisting oppression and fighting for our rights.
