1,500+ lbs. of food donated to Helping Hand by Waves of Praise Gospel Fest attendees [Video]

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Over Labor Day weekend, hundreds of people gathered at the Waves of Praise Gospel Fest, with attendees donating hundreds of cans of nonperishable foods as part of the biggest fest yet.

Promoter Reggie Dyson said having known people personally that were food insecure, he wanted to help those in the need in the community through an organization he’s proud of.

On Wednesday, those hundreds of cans were packed up at the Historic Colored School Museum by Dyson and other Helping Hand workers to be brought to the Helping Hand building.

“I’m a firm believer that if we help the next person, God will even bless even more,” Dyson said. “So, when you see a need, go to the need. That’s what we did with the gospel fairs. There’s a lot of people that’s in the community that’s looking for food. So, we want to help them find the solution.”
