SAN ANTONIO — 15 people were arrested in an apparent “gang takedown” in Uvalde and face criminal charges of distributing and possessing meth, according to a press release from the United States Department of Justice.
The DOJ said the group consisted of 5 confirmed gang members and 10 other people who have gang ties.
The 15 defendants were indicted last Wednesday in federal court in Del Rio for one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, and one count of distribution and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, according to the DOJ.
If convicted they could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10 million fine for each charge.
