The EPA Water Conference 2024 took place on 12 and 13 June, in Galway and online. Speakers shared their knowledge on how to protect & improve water quality in Ireland and showcased case studies from around Ireland.

Speaker: Jean Rosney, Senior Development Co-ordinator, NFGWS

Jean Rosney is Senior Development Co-ordinator with the National Federation of Group Water Schemes. She has worked with the organisation for 20 years. The NFGWS is the representative organisation for the community-owned group water scheme (GWS) sector in Ireland.

Jean worked for many years in the organisation as a Development Officer for the Cavan & Monaghan region providing advice and support to the group water schemes in addition to delivering training programmes to GWS boards and staff, assisting schemes with Quality Assurance implementation and promoting good governance, management and administration practices. Since 2017 Jean has held the position of Senior Development Co-Ordinator and her area of work includes project management, policy, integrated source protection planning, strategic planning and financial oversight.

Jean graduated with a Bachelor of Environmental Science & Technology from Sligo IT in 2000. And in recent years completed the Green Cert Programme through Teagasc Distance Education. Jean is a member of An Fóram Uisce representing the rural water sector.
