13-year-old charged with making threat of mass violence, per Nashville police [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) confirmed that a 13-year-old was charged with making a threat of mass violence on Wednesday.

According to MNPD, the 8th grade boy told a teacher about a plan to “shoot up” Stratford STEM Magnet Middle School. School resource officers reportedly responded and took him into custody.

“Threats against schools, special events and businesses are taken very seriously by the MNPD,” a press release from MNPD reads, in part. “Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”

Yesterday, Nashville police arrested a sixth grader for making threats against another Nashville middle school. On Monday, a student was charged for making a threat against Cookeville high school.

That means that every school day so far this week, at least one student has been charged with making threats against Middle Tennessee schools.
