12-year-old arrested for allegedly threatening Nashville middle school [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) announced the arrest of a 12-year-old after the child allegedly threatened a Nashville middle school.

Middle Tennessee school superintendents release joint statement on school threats

MNPD said the Rapid School Response Team, the Specialized Investigations Division and school resource officers arrested a student from DuPont Tyler Middle School after the student reportedly “posted that he planned to shoot up the school” via social media.

The student was reportedly charged with making a threat of mass violence and false reporting.

“Threats against schools, special events and businesses are taken very seriously by the MNPD,” a press release from the agency reads, in part. “Those responsible, once identified, will be prosecuted.”
