1,100 people in Louisville bike, walk to raise money for cancer research | News from WDRB [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Eleven hundred walkers and bike riders came together Saturday to raise money for cancer research and prevention.

Much of the “Bike to Beat Cancer” happened at Norton Cancer Institute – Brownsboro.

Money raised will go toward early detection programs, treatment and patient support.

Many of the riders and walkers either had a battle with the disease or know someone who did.

Several signs lined the bike route where participants wrote who they were riding for.

“I think it just brings hope and optimism for the future and all the great things that are happening in our community in the fight against cancer,” said Lynnie Meyer, who’s with Norton Healthcare.

Prior to Saturday, Bike to Beat Cancer raised over $6 million since it began 16 years ago.
