JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – The 10th annual “Sleep Out to Help the Homeless” event took place overnight Tuesday, which aims to raise awareness of homelessness in Jackson and provide resources to those in need.
Dozens made their way to Pittman Park, getting their chance to get their hands on things such as gloves, hats, food, and other care packages.
This is a continued effort by community-based organization Mississippi Move and other non-profits here in Jackson, where they can hear from those impacted by homelessness firsthand.
Central Mississippi Public Service Commissioner De’Keither Stamps has been a part of this event for years and says meeting people where they stand is one of the most important parts of this event.
