1 dead,1 injured following single car collision in Fairdale [Video]

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One juvenile is dead and another injured following a collision early Saturday morning in Fairdale. 

Around 3:50 a.m., LMPD officers noticed a vehicle that had been reported stolen with two occupants inside near the county line. 

According to the press release, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver refused and sped away at a dangerous speed. Officers did not pursue the vehicle and turned off their emergency lights.  

Authorities say the initial officers noticed sparks about a half mile down the road in the same direction the vehicle was traveling. 

Officers located a single overturned vehicle in the 10300 block of National Turnpike. Police attempted to render First Aid to the victims.  

EMS arrived on the scene and declared one teenager male as deceased and transported the other teenager to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries according to the press release.
